With the concept for my game underway, to create a FPS with linear levels and with the projects focus being on level design I had to now start thinking about the game and the levels that I wanted to create. I knew that I wanted to have multiple levels as it will be a valuable skill to learn how to transition between levels and the ability to naturally set up the progression of a story. I already had a idea of what I want to create for one of the levels, as UE4 had just made a detailed housing asset pack[1] free . With this and my inspiration from the Call Of Duty series[2] I knew straight away what one of my levels was going to be and the potential storyline that I was going to create.
I knew this asset pack would be an amazing environment for my player to play in, so started thinking of reasons for way the player would need to be invading a house and then I thought back to the ‘Modern Warfare 2′[3] mission where you were raiding the bad guys house to try and find him. This in my opinion is one of the best levels throughout the Call Of Duty series and now looking at it again is very impressive from a level design stand point, with the whole level being centred around this house and the ability to maintain the players interest in this house by it’s unique layout.

Call of Duty mission [3]
This is definitely the inspiration for my first level and the idea of looking for someone as the objective instantly struck a chord with me as this is such a great way to drive the plot for this game.
