I stated in my pitch presentation for this game that I wanted to look at the Houdini[1] software and plugin for UE4 as a tool to create my environment with. Over the weekend I dedicated my time to researching how to install and use Houdini properly mostly looking at how to generate large and detailed environments. I found out after installing the plugin for UE4 that the package doesn’t include the tool to sync up Houdini and UE4 which means that I would have to create the package and then go into UE4 to see how it functions. This was one of the reasons that I decided to stick with UE4 environmental tools for now as I feel this would affect the fool of development. Another reason that I decided to put Houdini on the back burner for now was because I still have a lot to learn about the UE4 terrain tools. I have only made one game in UE4 and one gaming environment so I feel that this project is a great opportunity to improve my UE4 game/level design skills, so I would prefer to focus on this rather then jumping straight into another piece of software. Saying this however I do see the great potential that Houdini can offer my game and can see how it would offer great improvements in terms of detail and performance within my game.

Overall I am planning on creating the game and environment first and then if time is available to focus on the detail of the environment which means potentially jumping back into Houdini.
