For the final part of my degree I will be making a final project piece, for my project I wanted to make something that would really help show off my portfolio and my level designing skills. I wanted this piece to be the centre of my portfolio and wanted to add something that was new to my library of work. The thing that my portfolio is currently lacking is a detailed piece, a piece of work that looks finished and professional in it’s quality and amount of detail.
From my previous projects and level designing work the key obstacle that I have come into is scale and I have learnt from these projects that bigger isn’t better. This is why for my major project I will be creating a game with linear levels that allow me to capitalise on detail and quality over sheer size. With a set of linear levels in mind and having already purchased a first person shooter asset pack [1], I knew that I was going to create Call of Duty [2] style of game. The game will be relatively fast paced and short in its level structure, though will keep the player immersed in the experience.

How will I create an immersive experience / what I hope to have in the game:
Below are some features that I am hoping to add into the game that will help create an immersive experience for the player:
Short levels : By having short levels I can focus more on the user experience
Music: I will hopefully have time to add in my own music which will add to the pacing of the game
Voice acting: I am aiming to do some voice acting for this project which will add another level of depth to the game and will help to drive the narrative and not impact the flow of the game.
Overall I am a Games Designer specializing in level Design and my main goal with my games is to create an immersive and atmospheric experience for my players with my games. This project is the perfect opportunity to really show off these skills and show my value to future employers and to get into the industry as a level designer.
