For the location for my project I have decided to go with a local forest/environment rather then a bigger forest/woodland in Canada. Although the species of animals in Canadian forests would be more interesting, I feel that I wouldn’t be able to get a sense of size and feel for the environment as I would only have virtual tour guides for references. So I decided to recreate a local woodland, there is a beautiful woodland called the North Melbury Wood that’s 15 minutes away from my house, this means that I can frequently visit and be able to collect more data. I have already been to the woodland to get a sense of scale and am already ambitious as to what I can create with that environment and how I am going to scale it appropriately for the purposes of a game.

Commercial Use:

For the sense of target audience and commercial use for this game, I have recently contacted a member of the National Trust [1] to see whether they’d have interest in the project. I am happy to say that they said they’d love something like this as it would enable them to reach out to more members of the public to gain an interest in local wildlife. My plan will be to make the game first for this module and then show off the work to the National Trust to see whether this meets their expectations and to make any necessary changes depending on their preferences. They are also going to provide me a list of species that live within that area.
