Since the last blog post, I got to work researching the area that I was planning to recreate. I have visited North Melbury Wood twice already collecting and vlogging my experience and collecting valuable information about the area. I have specifically been looking at the scale of the woodland and how I would alter this to fit a game setting e.g. how I would scale the forest down to make a game that took roughly about 10mins to explore. The other element that I was thinking about as I was looking around the forest was, how was I going to make the player to move around the map. As I’m going with a first person game with WASD movement controls, I have decided that there will be a series of interconnected paths and sub- paths that will allow the player to easily navigate the area and have reference points to know where they are at all the times, this will prevent the player from getting lost and losing interest in the game.
