During the last couple of weeks I have been debating what the best way to end the games progressed would be displayed, I have managed to implement a score system into the game that will increase with each widget found, then once all widgets have been displayed the player will be sent back to the main menu or given the options to end the game. Upon reflection though I have decided to take this system out, I believe that by having a score I am taking away from the feel I want from this game, I want the user to want to explore and to do so at their own pace. By adding a score system I feel this would add an alternative motive for the user, almost a competitive motive to try and complete the game as fast as they can. As stated before the purpose of the game is to have the user explore the environment at their own pace and to uncover the animals/widgets as they explore which I don’t think can be achieved by adding a score system into the game. The option to end the game will be a simple home button which will allow the player to leave the environment whenever they want, by doing this I will be changing the pace of the game giving the player complete freedom to leave whenever they want without the idea of having to complete the game that would come with a score system, in the end this is a simulation more then a game.
