With our game we managed to produce a stealth game where you as the player must collect keycards to advance through the level to reach the escape pod and win the game, while avoiding robots that if reach you will make you lose the game. Unfortunately the game could have used a little extra polish as the AI could go through walls the animations weren’t properly implemented and the keycards could have had a glow effect of something that made them stand out more. With all this aside I am very happy with what we as a team produced in 3 weeks and really think that it has challenged all of us and help us grow as game designers and artists. As a project that was designed to push is into our specialisms this has been perfect as all members of the team have been doing the parts of the game that they are interested in. Overall I feel like if we had more time we’d focus on the areas that I listed at the start, sort out the animations and make the keycards more visible, but with this being said I think what we produced is an impressive piece and believe it is able to reflect the specialisms we want to pursue very well.

For me personally this has been a really important reflective peace for me as it has helped to further understand the process of level designers implementing processes like mood boards and blockouts into my work really helped me to improve my ability to build atmospheric and player driven/focused levels. It has also taught me good and bad practices in level design e.g. I have learnt not to overlap game objects put to make sure that all game objects are snapped together properly. I have also learnt that lighting within levels is a discipline in of itself and the importance it can play in creating the atmosphere that you want. I am please with the level I produced and being the first big level that I have made really feel like this is an impressive piece. This has definitely cemented my goal of becoming a level designer and I feel like I have gained so much experience/knowledge from this project alone. Outside of level design, I have come to understand the importance of version control and have learnt how to use invaluable tools like git and bitBucket and how to properly commit push and pull my work and along with this have really benefited from working in a team and understanding how to properly convey information and collaborate with our work.
